When SEO goes bad

February 6, 2007

So Jenny Good from Donat Group got a call today from an irate customer wanting to know how 60 dollars got transfered from her account. It quickly became clear that she was looking for the Credit Union.

Jenny told her that she had the wrong number, but the woman refused to take that as an answer.

"What do you do there," the woman asked?

"We are a Web development company?"

"What is that? How does it work?"

"Ma'am, I think you have the worng number," Jenny repeats.

"No, I do not. I want to know what this transfer is all about."

"I'm sorry this is not the Credit Union."

"Miss, please answer my questions or transfer me to someone who can help me."

"Ma'am this is not the Credit Union. How did you get this number?"

"Donat Group Enterprises - A Creative Technology Company - The Credit Union Central BC manages and administers the employee pension and benefit plans for over 75% of the credit unions in BC."

"Ma'am, that's from our website."

"Yes, I know. Now, please, I want to know about this transfer."

""Ma'am, that's our website. The Credit Union was a client of ours. We developed an Intranet for them. We are not the Credit Union. You need to call 411."

"You are wasting my time. This is a long distance call."

She hangs up.

Ummm... I'm really not sure how she got to us. I assume it was through Google. Although, we come up on the first page for Credit Union Central BC, the first item listed is the CUCBC. So, I have really no idea how this event actually occured.

We all had a laugh.

AHHHH..... That's probably it. Now I feel sad. It was a pensioner. I wonder what happened to her $60.00? That was probably a lot of money to her.

My vote goes to "CUCBC Pension"
